UNT's ultimate goal is to have faculty at 100% externally funded Research with buyouts for Instruction Grants can be used to earn summer salary, which is paid at higher rate than teaching Denise Simmons (former NIH) and Rick Nader (former NSF) help with proposal development Contact Jose Grimaldo at Research office early with sponsor, RFP, deadline, and which program so he can assign a Grant Officer Research office can help with collaborations, sub-contracts, intellectual property, proposal reviews, etc. Facilities & Administration (F&A) or Indirect Costs (IDC) reflect the overhead cost of doing business Recognition Amounts and IDC Allocations are scored, so need to reflect effort indicated in the proposal Include 3% increase each year for multi-year proposals Only include cost share if required; "window dressing" does not improve proposal competitiveness If wish to partner with industry/corporation (which is encouraged), contact Research office; UNT does not do "work for hire" |
